Lets Cover with Prayer
These days it is more important than ever before to pray. We need to pray for others as well as ourselves. These scriptures are to help us understand that our prayers can help provide a covering and protect those we love.
Reflect on these scriptures as you pray.
Remember, Jesus IS LORD.
May God richly bless you.
2 Thessalonians 3:1-3
Pray for Us
Paul Asks Their Prayers, Warns Against Idleness
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread. So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.
Peter Freed from Prison
Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, "Arise quickly!" And his chains fell off his hands. Then the angel said to him, "Gird yourself and tie on your sandals"; and so he did. And he said to him, "Put on your garment and follow me." So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.
And when Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people."
The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
But thus says the LORD: "Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save your children. I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh, And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. All flesh shall know That I, the LORD, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."
Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by
day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that
lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it
shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward
of the wicked.
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your
dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your
dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your
ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a
stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the
serpent you shall trample underfoot.
"Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will
set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will
answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."
All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of
your children. In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from
oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against
you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the
LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.
above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all
the fiery darts of the wicked one.
1 John 5:18
We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of
God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
"Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let
him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to
give him who has need.
Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that
he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his
possessions have increased in the land.
For I,' says the LORD, "will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will
be the glory in her midst."'
