Be Careful What You Say
What goes out will come back!
Remember the saying...."be careful what you ask for, you might just get it"?
Well, This one is 100% truth.
You are today the culmination of all that you have spoken in your past. There are things that happen to you that you have allowed just by the words that you have spoken. Circumstances exist in your life that you brought into being with your speech. I'm not making this up and I'll prove it you in the Word of God. I just want you to understand just how important the words that come out of your mouth are. They literally mean life and death to you. (Proverbs 18:21)
First of all, we need to understand that God uses the spoken word to "activate" His Holy Spirit to move and create what was spoken. For examples look at the book of Genesis. Notice that nothing happened until God Spoke. "Let there be light", THEN there was light, not before he spoke. Note that the "Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters" but nothing was happening until God spoke.
Now why do you think it is recorded in the book of Genesis over and over again God Spoke and then it happened. It certainly would have been enough to simply state that God created light, land, plants, etc. But it was important enough to God to show us very plainly that there was a cause and effect at work here. He Spoke and then it happened. God is showing us by example that from the very beginning this is the way things work.
Let's examine a little further in the Word to see other examples. Frankly the Bible is full of these examples and once you start looking for them, you'll find many things that show you the importance of your words.
Let's go to Joshua 1:8.
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
That means speak the Word of God and don't let it leave your mouth, in other words, keep speaking the Word so that you can do all that is written in it. Again, God is showing us plainly the power of the spoken word.
Romans 10:17 tells that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
"But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him"
"For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Ephesians 6: 10-18 describes how to put on the armor of God and fight the Devil.
Where is the battlefield?
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with
all perseverance and supplication for all the saints"
Notice that the only offensive weapon in that armor is the Word of God.
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ"
(2 Corinthians 10:4-5)
Yes, you can bring each and every thought into obedience. It's your mind. That is the battlefield. Satan will put thoughts into your mind to lie, steal, kill, destroy all that you have and all that you are. Whether or not he is successful depends on how you react to those thoughts.
If satan puts a thought into your mind that you will not amount to anything and you respond by dwelling on that negative thought and saying things like "I'm a loser", then you give satan authority over you in that part of your life.
This is important! You have the authority in Jesus Christ to take charge! When that prince of lies comes to you with thoughts like that, you have to respond and come up in faith boldly. Speak the word over your thoughts. "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." I guarantee you that you will speak from what you have allowed to exist deep down in you.
From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Well then, fill your heart with the Word of God. Speak it. Read it out loud. Every time you get a negative thought, rebuke it with the Spoken Word of God.
"I rebuke you evil thought, IT IS WRITTEN that I am His Workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, I am raised up and made to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, I submit to God and the devil has to flee!"
You may have to do this over and over and over again to get the devil to understand that you mean business! You'd better mean business too. Understand that God created the whole planet and everything on it just for you. He loves you so much that he sent his son to die for you. He gave everything for you and gave you authority to take dominion over everything on the earth.
Remember you will answer for every idle word you speak! Don't be grumbling and complaining. Remember what Mom told you. If you can't say something good, keep your mouth shut. You didn't know she was referencing scripture, did you.
"Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! "
I pray that you reflect on the scripture on this page and that you increase in understanding and wisdom. Take back what satan has stolen from you and start speaking Victory in your life over every situation. God gave you the power and authority, it's up to you to learn how to use it.
God Bless you!
