Time to Focus

Now is the time for us to gain full understanding of who the enemy is, how he attacks, and how we can defend ourselves and fight back and win. The events of Sept. 11th, 2001 have certainly brought to the forefront of everyone's mind that we are at war. Let us focus on the real war that has been waging against each and every one of us from the day of our (re)birth.
First of all, the enemy of course is evil, in fact, he is the author of evil. Satan. He's also the author of terror, confusion, hatred, and deception. He's subtle, devious, and uses his weapons to turn his enemies against themselves if they are not prepared.
One example of how he turns Christians against themselves is how he stirs up such hot anger in our minds when we think something is wrong in the way the Word of God is delivered or when God moves in a new manner. For example, there is a movie that came out a few days after the disaster on Sept. 11th that is from a Christian organization that has drawn extreme opinions from some Christians. This movie is based on some of the events in the book of Revelation and concerns the battle of Armageddon and the return of our Lord Jesus. Now, the makers of this movie desired to create a film that would reach out to non-Christians and get them thinking. The movie is "Megiddo, Omega Code II".
I've seen the movie and I've read many reviews by other moviegoers on several websites. One thing I noticed is that there are many Christians who are really slamming the movie for whatever reason. I'm not referring to the views by non-Christians because they are either going to be convicted by the Holy Spirit and consider the overall message of the movie(many are, praise God), or they will allow Satan to "judge" for them and hate the movie. I'm talking about Christians. People who have given their lives to the Lord yet still walk in the ways of the world. By allowing a spirit of offense to rule their minds instead of the spirit of God, they are preventing the Lord from moving in their own lives.
It's time to focus.
Focus on the truth that Satan is the author of offense, not some individuals who honor God by trying to save souls with a timely released movie.
Matthew 24 is the chapter that a lot of people refer to when talking about the signs of the times. The disciples asked Jesus "what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?" Jesus' first words in response were, "Take heed that no one deceives you". The author of deception is Satan. How can we prevent Satan from deceiving us? KNOW YOUR ENEMY AND HOW HE WORKS! Satan is the anti-Christ, anti-God...anything that God is, the devil isn't. Satan will put thoughts into your mind and try his best to get you to act on those thoughts.
What does the Word of God teach us about these things?
I encourage you now before you read the following scriptures, to take a moment and pray. Pray that the Lord open your eyes of understanding so that you read the Word and be filled with the Holy Spirit of knowledge. Then read every single word out loud, loud enough so that you can hear with your ears what you are reading.
Ephesians 6:10-18 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints"
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ
James 4:1-10 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"? But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
Hebrews 4:12-16 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Those are very powerful scriptures. As you read them again, remember the first piece of the Armor is truth. Be truthful to yourself and know that satan will put thoughts into your head as you read the other scriptures.
Your weapon is the Word of God. Your battlefield is in your mind. If you submit to God, Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Submit to God by humbling yourself before him. Submit to God by committing yourself to him. Submit to God by reading His Word daily. When you read His Word, Submit to God by accepting what He says YOU are and what YOU can do.
I pray that you be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you put aside the thoughts of this world and renew your mind with the knowledge of Christ, that you set your mind on the things of the Spirit attaining to the riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I pray that you earnestly seek the Lord in all your ways and that you walk soberly, understanding that there are not many days left. Seek and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness, and understand that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Walk in the favor of God in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
